Abstract Being understanding is a moral virtue. But what exactly it that an person does excellently? And makes virtue, rather than (merely) intellectual one? Stephen Grimm suggests judges other people’s failings accurately without being too permissive or judgemental. I argue against this view and develop alternative one.
